Rib Scout Rub
I found this recipe in Mrs. Pine’s first edition manual. My edition (5th edition) does NOT have this. People in the past were wild.
“Serves 4 people poorly or 1 person well
3 tbs of paprika
Garlic (you know how much)
2 tbs of pepper
1 cup of mayonnaise
2 cans of whole tomatoes
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tbs of mustard powder
1 tbs of cinnamon
A midwestern pinch of salt (no salt)”
I asked Mrs. Pine about this and she laughed really really hard on the phone and then we got disconnected and then I had to talk her through a video call which was really just a normal call and – in the end she told me that yes that is the recipe for a very early version of the Rib Scout Rub (the kind you can buy from the door-to-door sellers in July).
